Teaching Assistants (5 positions)

Special Education/Special Class or AIS: Elementary

The District is seeking 4 dedicated, compassionate Teaching Assistants to support students with disabilities in a 12:1:2 or 8:1:3 special class setting at the elementary level. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the special education teacher to support students with complex learning needs. We are also seeking 1 Teaching Assistant to support AIS services in an elementary setting.

  • Pulaski Road Elementary School
  • Ocean Avenue Elementary School
  • Fifth Avenue Elementary School

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized and small group support for students with special needs in a 12:1:2 or 8:1:3 special class setting.
  • Assist the special education teacher in implementing specially designed instructional activities
  • Support the delivery of specially designed instruction aligned with students’ IEP goals
  • Assist in managing classroom behavior using established behavior management strategies and supports
  • Monitor student engagement, participation, and progress throughout the school day
  • Assist with data collection related to student performance and behavior
  • Support students with transitions, routines, and daily living skills, including those with toileting needs as needed
  • Collaborate with the special education teacher, related service providers and special area teachers to ensure a consistent and supportive learning environment.

Essential Skills and/or Experience:

  • Experience working with students with disabilities preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to implement behavior management strategies and follow teacher's direction
  • Demonstrated patience, flexibility, and commitment to supporting all learners.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred but not required
Contracted Rate of Pay
