Elementary Teacher Probationary

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:

  • Deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction across all core content areas (ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies).
  • Implement evidence-based literacy practices grounded in the Science of Reading research to ensure all students reach grade-level proficiency.
  • Provide robust Tier 1 interventions to support struggling learners and offer meaningful enrichment opportunities for students exceeding benchmarks.
  • Apply a deep understanding of child development to create a classroom environment that fosters Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and psychological safety.
  • Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.

 

Job Qualifications

Essential Skills and/or Experience: 

  • Proven ability to establish strong, trusting connections with students and maintain proactive, positive partnerships with families.
  • Prior elementary teaching experience is preferred, with a track record of effective classroom management.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with stakeholders.
  •  A genuine willingness to participate in school-wide events, committees, and the broader life of the school community

Preferred Skills and/or Experiences:

  • Experience working with English Language Learners (ELL) and implementing culturally responsive teaching practices.
  • Familiarity with the Responsive Classroom approach to build a positive and inclusive school climate.
  • Strong collaborative spirit and experience working within a Professional Learning Community (PLC) to analyze student work and improve practice.

Required Certification(s):

  • NYS Certification in Childhood Education (Grades 1–6)
  • NYS Certification in Early Childhood Education (Birth-Grade 2)

Additional Preferred Certifications: 

  • NYS Certification in Literacy (Birth-Grade 6)
  • TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages)
  • NYS Certification in Students with Disabilities (SWD) (Birth-2, 1-6, K-12)
