Job Description

Special Education/Mathematics/Grade 5

The 5th Grade ICT Teacher co-plans and co-teaches mathematics in an inclusive classroom alongside a general education teacher to ensure all students access grade-level standards through high-quality instruction, accommodations, and targeted support.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Co-plan, co-instruct, and co-assess daily math lessons using ICT models (e.g., team teaching, station teaching, parallel teaching, small group instruction).
• Deliver standards-aligned instruction that differentiates for a wide range of learning needs and strengths.
• Provide specially designed instruction (SDI), scaffolds, and accommodations aligned to IEPs/504 Plans; support implementation of related services as appropriate.
• Use formative and summative data to monitor progress, adjust instruction, and set goals for students.
• Design and deliver small-group or intervention support within the classroom to strengthen math skills and conceptual understanding.
• Collaborate with the co-teacher and support staff (e.g., paraprofessionals, related service providers) to implement consistent routines and behavior supports.
• Maintain accurate documentation related to IEP goals, progress monitoring, and required compliance tasks.
• Communicate regularly with families and participate in IEP meetings, grade-level meetings, and professional learning communities.
• Create a positive, culturally responsive classroom environment that promotes belonging, engagement, and academic risk-taking

Job Qualifications

Requirements:

• NYS certification in Students with Disabilities Grades 1–6
• NYS certification in Childhood Education Grades 1-6
• Effective approximately March 2, 2026, to May 25, 2026
• Experience with co-teaching and/or teaching diverse learners in a 5th grade classroom preferred.
