Job Description

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Data Control Supervisor serves as the primary liaison between user departments and data processing personnel and is responsible for the accuracy, control, and flow of data processing input and output. The position addresses user requests for assistance, documents and tracks reported problems, facilitates resolution, and maintains data processing standards and procedures. Work is performed under general supervision and reviewed through reports, observation, and operational effectiveness.

TYPICAL DUTIES

  1. Serves as the central contact for user-reported data processing issues
  2. Maintains and controls data processing input, output, and workflow
  3. Resolves reported problems or refers them to appropriate personnel
  4. Documents issues, resolutions, and system changes
  5. Tracks outstanding issues and ensures timely follow-up
  6. Reviews flow charts and assembles program packages
  7. Advises users on procedures during problem resolution
  8. Prepares reports and maintains reference manuals
  9. Attends meetings related to system or procedural changes

Job Qualifications

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  1. Knowledge of data processing control procedures and record-keeping
  2. Knowledge of general office practice.
  3. Working knowledge of data processing terminology and equipment
  4. Ability to prepare technical documentation
  5. Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  6. Strong written and verbal communication skills
  7. Ability to work effectively with users and technical staff

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

OPEN COMPETITIVE

Candidates must meet one of the following:

(a) Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or
(b) Associate’s degree and two (2) years of experience in a data processing environment involving end-user problem resolution and/or workflow control; or
(c) High school diploma or equivalency and four (4) years of comparable data processing experience; or
(d) An equivalent combination of education and experience.

 


NOTE

This is a provisional appointment. Permanent appointment requires successful completion of the next Civil Service examination.
